Take a Pause
After you accomplish everything in your life or come to the realization that you’re not able to accomplish more than where you are at, what’s next? What do you strive for? What do you hope for? Why do you do what you do?
Having a time to contemplate on philosophical questions are needed because it can ground us. These questions can remind us of the real priorities in life. However, we may avoid these questions because we’re not ready to confront the reality of time. Maybe we avoid the questions because we don’t have an answer or maybe we just want to live life to the fullest and take it day by day.
I was reminded of the importance of life and reality of the legacy we leave behind. Recently two of my uncles died within four days of each other. It was gut wrenching, heartbreaking and thought provoking. It was like life was paused momentarily while grief began to swell. Slowly the mind begins to recalibrate as sweet memories of their lives permeate.
Thus the question, what do you strive for? What motivates you to get up in the morning to continue the routines of life. Is it the deadlines of an upcoming project? Maybe you’re so close to reaching a milestone in life and the optimism is running high. Maybe you’re doing it for your children to ensure a better life for them. Maybe you get up every day and do your thing because you live life to the fullest.
What is for certain, is when all is said and done your life will have made an impact on someone else. That impact can be intentional or unintentional, but it’ll happen. My hope is that this small blog post will be the pause for you to reflect on the influence you have and contemplate have you can have a positive impact in the life of those around you.
May we be intentional about what we do and why we do it.
