So, last month I began looking for an apartment in Chicago. I was encouraged by the story of Abraham, when God told Him FIRST to GO and THEN God WILL SHOW.
As I began looking for apartments the LORD spoke to me and said, “Be patient and wait.” Sometimes instead of being patient and waiting, I would go to Craigslist, Apartment Finder, and every other apartment place known to man. This only made me anxious. The Holy Spirit would then remind me, “be patient and wait.”
Some days I would go on walks to the park and just seek the LORD. Along those walks I felt that I was being irresponsible because I was not at home looking for apartments, or calling places. It’s quite funny because on the days when I spent hours upon hours looking online for apartments and making calls, I got tired and frustrated. However, on the days when I did absolutely no apartment searching, but seeking God, I feeling mighty refreshed.
As the time was winding down for me to move to Chicago, I even more inclined to look at places and take whatever I can get. God is sooo good though, because when I wanted to settle He brought back to my remembrance the times when He’s provided for me on the very last day when everything looked so dim. This encouraged me so I sent out word for more people to pray that God will lead me to the right place.
Before heading to the All Nations Conference in Kansas City, MO, God reminded me of Psalm 62:5
My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him
My Heavenly Father reminded me that my expectation is from Him.
So if my expectation puts any limitation on the God of all creation than there needs to be a reevaluation of my faith.
The LORD said to me, “Expect Greater!”
While at the conference I received and email of a brother in Christ looking for a roommate. I called him and all I can say is ‘To God be the Gory!!” Everything that was on my heart in looking for a place to stay and an ideal roommate was in this one phone call. The awesome thing is, this was not a place I looked for; God brought it to me. The price I had to pay is way below my minimum budget of 500. The place is in also in a gorgeous neighborhood.
God is our provider and He is faithful! Continue to seek Him and desire Him. Love Him because He first loved you! Let God be your expectation! There’s no limits when it comes to our loving Heavenly Father. If you’re in a season of waiting or transitioning remember; wait silently for God alone. Your expectation is from Him.
I thank God and I thank all my brothers and sisters who have been praying for me to get a place in Chicago. I know that without the encouragement from the LORD and from my brothers and sisters in Christ, I would have settled for anything.
As one of my dearest sisters told me: God Has a Place for You: The LORD is not only preparing you, but others for you.
I love to write. These writings come from my time in the Word of God, from observation, and trails in life. I pray that you will be blessed as you read them.
