The Shepherd's Leading

Trekking into an unknown adventure with the LORD is awesomeness! On these adventures I’m assured in the truth that Christ Jesus is my Shepherd (Psalm 23). Trusting in Him is the only requirement for adventure!

Going on an adventure with the LORD can mean anything! Oh snap! Will there be some healing? Maybe the LORD will use me pray for some people! These things are awesomness, but my favorite thing about adventures with the LORD, is when I’m walking with Him and hearing His voice. The Father speaking to His son. The Great Teacher guiding His pupil. The Holy Spirit guiding my every step. These are the things I love about unknown adventures.

On a cool April day, Holy Spirit sent me out to a place that was must go to in the past!! It was an old park that was the place for many birthdays, cookouts, family reunions, etc... When I arrived it was abandoned and beginning to distort.

The ground was so bad it created waves of pavement along a forgotten path. The playground was sinking into the ground. Old picnic tables were filled with years of plastic tape from birthdays, and what once was a basketball court was home to a lone rusting pole.

It was in the abandoned place where I had one of the best days ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sat down on the sinking playground and had a conversation with God. I told God about all the unknowns in my upcoming transition to Chicago. Immediately Holy Spirit told me to read John 10.

(John 10:4- When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice)

The LORD was reminding me that He’s the Shepherd and He goes before me. There’s nothing that’s unknown for Christ Jesus. Yes there are unknowns, but the only known thing I need to focus on in trusting in Jesus.

Holy Spirit reminded me He’s the one who takes me to green pastures, and still waters. He’s also the one who walks me through deep valleys. Yet, shall I trust in the Good Shepherd.

Ok, so we’ve all heard about Jesus leading us and guiding us. We’ve all worn out Psalm 23 and what I’m writing about is nothing new. So how was this one of the best days ever!?

Because it was just the Father and I. Father God created an atmosphere of intimacy in the midst of an abandoned place. All of creation displayed His glory! I felt like a child in the presence of my Father. No more was I thinking about unknowns. God enraptured me in His fullness.

(Jeremiah 33:12- Thus says the Lord of host: In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be dwellings and pastures of shepherds resting their flocks)

The Lord took me to an abandoned place to reveal to me that as my Shepherd no matter where He guides me, I can trust in Him, because He will be there.

God turns the desolate places into dwelling places. Let us trust in the Good Shepherd and follow where he leads. Even if it’s an old abandoned park.
