My favorite thing about God is His beauty! I find that true beauty is found in the Presence of God. Until one realizes the importance of abiding in God and seeking to live in His Presence, one will have a faulty view of beauty.
God's inspired word, written on the pages for us to consume, reveals His beautiful Presence!
Joshua 1:8- This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all this is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. (NKJV)
This verse shows that we should be consumed in God's Word, His Presence. I love the word "in." We should meditate "in" His Word. The small two letter word "in" is the expression of the situation of something that is enclosed or surrounded by something else"
It's very simple, when you are enclosed by fire, you will get burned. When enclosed by water you will drown. When you are enclosed by the Presence of God, being in His Word, you will see the beauty of the LORD!! By being enclosed by the Presence of God, His word, just as Joshua says, shall not depart from your mouth!
Psalm 19:14- Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O LORD, my Strength and my Redeemer
This verse is beautiful because the word "meditation" in this verse is the Hebraic word, higgayown, which means "plotting and resounding music." In other words David's desire is for his words, his mind, his will, and emotions to make a sweet resounding music that praises God!
I think that God's word not departing from our mouth is key for speaking words that are pleasing to Him. The words we speak that pleases Him can only come from being enclosed in His Presence.
It's also amazing that in Psalm 19 David says let my words be acceptable in Your "sight". It's as if every word I say is written down in a book and the LORD is reading the words I've said. Will He read my words or His? That's why it says we shall be accountable for every word we say. We condemn ourselves or justify ourselves (Matthew 12:37).
We are to be enclosed by the Word of God, which is Christ Jesus! Let the resounding music of our heart come from the depth of being enclosed in His Presence! Let our meditation be on the beauty of Christ! So that it may be pleasing to God!!
I love to write. These writings come from my time in the Word of God, from observation, and trails in life. I pray that you will be blessed as you read them.
