Manual labor is awesomeness!! Sometimes it’s tedious, but once completed there’s a feeling of accomplishment. Through manual labor many insights or parallels come to mind concerning scripture.
Most recently, I was cutting a forest of wild bushes. That’s how I would describe them. They hadn’t been cut in a while. There was no electrical hedge trimmers, just me and these metal scissors.
After some time I began to feel weary and drained. I didn’t drink any water at the time, but praise the Lord for cloud covering and a subtle wind. I was far from over, but this one thing rejuvenated my energy to go on!
While furiously cutting this tall bush, something pink caught my eye. Among the mix of dead branches and spotty green life, was a full bloomed flower underneath the junk. My mind was set on clearing everything away from the flower. All the dead branches had to go! New life sprung up in me because this flower caught my eye.
As I was eagerly cutting and cutting the scripture that came to mind was about being pruned.
John 15:1-2 I am the True Vine, and My Father is the Vinedresser. Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit (that stops bearing) He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.
Just as I was getting rid of every dead branch that had nothing to show forth, so too does Father God.
There was a point in which many flowers were seen on this bush, but they all withered and died. However, the sight of that flower restored to me hope that more flowers would come! It’s amazing how one lively thing can effect a situation.
It’s important that we bear fruit. The fruit of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
Bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit is like being a flower among dead branches. People are curious about you, but more importantly the Vinedresser is drawn to you.
John 15:4- Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.
When one dwells with Christ one will swell with His fruit.
I love to write. These writings come from my time in the Word of God, from observation, and trails in life. I pray that you will be blessed as you read them.
