The Shepherd's Leading

Trekking into an unknown adventure with the LORD is awesomeness! On these adventures I’m assured in the truth that Christ Jesus is my Shepherd (Psalm 23). Trusting in Him is the only requirement for adventure!

Going on an adventure with the LORD can mean anything! Oh snap! Will there be some healing? Maybe the LORD will use me pray for some people! These things are awesomness, but my favorite thing about adventures with the LORD, is when I’m walking with Him and hearing His voice. The Father speaking to His son. The Great Teacher guiding His pupil. The Holy Spirit guiding my every step. These are the things I love about unknown adventures.

On a cool April day, Holy Spirit sent me out to a place that was must go to in the past!! It was an old park that was the place for many birthdays, cookouts, family reunions, etc... When I arrived it was abandoned and beginning to distort.

The ground was so bad it created waves of pavement along a forgotten path. The playground was sinking into the ground. Old picnic tables were filled with years of plastic tape from birthdays, and what once was a basketball court was home to a lone rusting pole.

It was in the abandoned place where I had one of the best days ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sat down on the sinking playground and had a conversation with God. I told God about all the unknowns in my upcoming transition to Chicago. Immediately Holy Spirit told me to read John 10.

(John 10:4- When he has brought his own sheep outside, he walks on before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice)

The LORD was reminding me that He’s the Shepherd and He goes before me. There’s nothing that’s unknown for Christ Jesus. Yes there are unknowns, but the only known thing I need to focus on in trusting in Jesus.

Holy Spirit reminded me He’s the one who takes me to green pastures, and still waters. He’s also the one who walks me through deep valleys. Yet, shall I trust in the Good Shepherd.

Ok, so we’ve all heard about Jesus leading us and guiding us. We’ve all worn out Psalm 23 and what I’m writing about is nothing new. So how was this one of the best days ever!?

Because it was just the Father and I. Father God created an atmosphere of intimacy in the midst of an abandoned place. All of creation displayed His glory! I felt like a child in the presence of my Father. No more was I thinking about unknowns. God enraptured me in His fullness.

(Jeremiah 33:12- Thus says the Lord of host: In this place which is desolate, without man and without beast, and in all its cities, there shall again be dwellings and pastures of shepherds resting their flocks)

The Lord took me to an abandoned place to reveal to me that as my Shepherd no matter where He guides me, I can trust in Him, because He will be there.

God turns the desolate places into dwelling places. Let us trust in the Good Shepherd and follow where he leads. Even if it’s an old abandoned park.

Be, Go, and Do!!

Have you ever been asked to do something you never done!? You're first feeling is oh no!!
Nerves begin rising. Heart pounding faster.
Doubt begins to creep in and you're unsure if you can do what you've been asked to do.

On March 31st, as i was getting ready for the day, Holy Spirit said, "Today you're preaching my gospel openly."
My immediate reaction was, "ooookay." I asked, "Are you sure You want me to do this, I've never done this before."
Holy Spirit responded with at simple, "Yes"

This is when my nerves began rising and my heart began beating faster. Holy Spirit just asked me to do something I've never done before. All I know is that I was going to be obedient to God. The destination of this engagement was Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville (SIUE) at a free forum area called "the rock."

Leaving my residence my nerves really started rising. Prayer was the dialogue that morning. Because of being unsure  I asked God again if this is what He wanted me to do? After asking the LORD, I contacted many of my brothas and sistas in Christ so they would be praying for me.

As I was walking to catch the bus a deer pranced across my path!!! This is significant for me because the day before one of my brothas prayed for me and shared with me (Habakkuk 3:19)
Habakkuk 3:19- The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, and He will make me walk on my high hills

What my bro told me was the Lord was making my feet like the deer and there are things God is going to have me do, but just to remember He has made my feet like the deer to climb those high hills.

I never rejoiced for seeing a deer! But this day I was praising God for allowing me to see a deer prance across my path. It was as if God was reminding me about making my feet like the deer. I screamed, "LORD, You are with me!"

It was afternoon when I arrived to SIUE and I made up in my mind that at 2:30 pm I would begin preaching. At 2:00 pm I went and sat on another hill to pray.
Being honest with God I said, "LORD, there aren't many people here."
The LORD responded, "You go and I will bring you an audience"
Realizing what I just did, I said, "LORD, I don't think I want an audience."

The time is now 2:30 pm. Taking a deep breath I went and began speaking at "the rock"
As students walked by I asked them what their definition of love was. From their response I was able to share the gospel with them. I loved sharing the gospel openly!! However, I believe the greatest thing that happened was God reminding me that He is truly with me.

During my time sharing the gospel, I would also sing "How Great Is Our God." It was a blessing to me to hear the song resonate through the air as the wind carried the words. I could picture Christ sharing to the multitudes as His voice would carry across the land and all would hear His teaching.

It was an experience I'll never forget, and I know it's only the beginning.
